Oregon ConSim Games is proud to announce the production of its in-house Journal, 1914: Dispatches. The Journals purpose is to support the WWI historical simulation game 1914: Twilight in the East (GMT, October 2007) and future projects that will employ the same or similar game system. The Journal will fulfill three objectives: expand upon the historical topics covered by the games, provide new scenarios for the games, and supply players with notes and information about the game system. Volume 1 of 1914: Dispatches achieves these goals by elaborating on the historical topic chosen for 1914: Twilight in the East, the Eastern Front during 1914. The topic is so far ranging that it cannot be exhaustively covered in one effort, and is so interesting that it deserves additional treatment. Each main article within the journal will be accompanied by a historical scenario or a hypothetical scenario based upon reasonable assumptions supported by historical data. Also included in the premier edition are Players Notes written by prominent play-testers and a Game System Analysis written by the games designer. The Journals premier will focus on four new scenarios: two historical and two hypothetical. The two historical scenarios, The Battle of Ivangorod and The Lodz Campaign round out 1914: Twilight in the Easts scenario selection. The two hypothetical scenarios, The Austro-Hungarian Deployment Plan as of Winter 1913/14 and Oberst Dragonis Austro-Hungarian Deployment and Operational Plan for Victory in 1914, are intended to allow players to see what if within a plausible setting.
